Kerala-Style Prawn Curry

Dry roast the chillies, desicated coconut, mustard seeds, onion and blend them to a fine paste.
Rub cleaned prawns with salt and vinegar. Keep aside for 30 mins. In a pan over medium heat add oil, curry leaves, turmeric powder, chilli powder and masala. Stir fry until oil separates. Add tomato puree and hot water. Boil and simmer. Add drained prawns. Simmer uncovered till cooked. Serve over rice.

- 400 grams prawns
- 2 teaspoons vinegar
- 2 curry leaves
- 1 pinch of salt (to taste)
- ½ teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon chilli powder
- 6 teaspoons desiccated coconut
- 250 millilitres onions (sliced)
- 3 dried red chillies
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- 250 millilitres tomato puree
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
