Ingredients

Serves: 2-3

Metric Cups
  • 500 grams prawns
  • 2 teaspoons fresh coriander
  • 3 red chillies
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric
  • 100 grams shallots (chopped)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic puree
  • 1 teaspoon pepper (crushed)
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • curry leaves (a few)
  • salt (as required)
  • 17⅔ ounces shrimp
  • 2 teaspoons cilantro
  • 3 red chiles
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric
  • 3½ ounces shallots (chopped)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic puree
  • 1 teaspoon pepper (crushed)
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • curry leaves (a few)
  • salt (as required)

Method

Chemmeen Varatiyathu (Prawns Roast) is a community recipe submitted by Miya and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • Heat oil in a pan and put coriander, red chilly, pepper, 3-4 shallots, 6-7 curry leaves. Saute well and grind this into fine paste.
  • Add required amount of salt and turmeric powder to cleaned prawns along with the ground paste. Marinate the prawns for 10min.
  • Heat oil in a pan and put the balance shallots and ginger-garlic paste and saute till brown. Put the marinated prawns and add some water into it. Put it in low flame, close the pan with a lid, and cook till prawns are boiled. Keep stirring the prawns.
  • Put 1tsp coconut oil on top of the curry and garnish with some curry leaves.
