First get a really big saucepan and put it over a low heat and add the olive oil then, the carrots, celery and onion stir well and put the lid on so it can sweat down. Stir every couple of minutes for 10-15 minutes. Now add the tin of tomatoes stir until warmed, add the stock and the potatoes, bring to the boil, turn the heat down to a simmer and cook until the potatoes are half done. Then add the cabbage, pasta and beans simmer until everything is done , taste for seasoning, take off the heat and just before serving stir in the herbs.
