Aniseeds are small, black seeds from the anise plant. It is related to carrots and parsley and should not be confused with the larger star anise which contains seeds in a hard pod.

Aniseeds can be found in some supermarkets in the UK and the US. They are popular in Indian cooking so it is also worth trying Asian food stores. The seeds are also reputed to freshen the breath and aid digestion so sometimes you will find them in health food or natural food stores.

It is easiest to buy the seeds on-line. There are several websites that sell the seeds, quite often they are health food and natural food sites. You may like to search on the word anise as well as aniseed to get the best selection, and make sure you are buying the seeds rather then ground aniseed.
