Full question
Hi Nigella & Team. I'm loving the new book 'At My Table'. I want to do a seasonal meal for friends using the Brussels Sprouts & Pomegranate and Red Cabbage With Cranberries recipes from this book. What would you suggest for meat to go with this (beyond the Roast Duck recipe, which Nigella notes would work well)? Thanks!
Our answer
Nigella's new book AT MY TABLE has plenty of ideas for all seasons but the recipes for Red Cabbage With Cranberries and Brussels Sprouts With Preserved Lemons And Pomegranate do have some ingredients which are at their best in Autumn. Within the book itself there are plenty of delicious options, including the Roast Duck With Orange, Soy And Ginger, and we would suggest trying the Slow Roast Pork Shoulder With Caramelised Garlic And Ginger, Lamb Shanks With Dates And Pomegranate Molasses, Roast Topside With Caramelised Onions or Spiced Lamb With Potatoes and Apricots.
At this time of year a home-cooked ham is always a good option and Nigella's Slow Cooked Black Treacle Ham is a justifiably popular, or try the Ginger-Glazed Ham as an alternative. The Slow Roast Pork Belly is also a great favourite and relatively fuss-free as it requires little attention as it cooks gently in the oven. For a dish that you can prepare ahead try Beef Stew With Anchovies And Thyme or Carbonnade A La Flamande and for a really generous feast you could consider Beer-Braised Pork Knuckles With Caraway, Garlic And Apples. For dessert we would recommend Nigella's new White Chocolate Cheesecake from AT MY TABLE, as it is surprisingly light and perfect after a sumptuous main course.
