Full question
I’d like to try the Spanish Chicken With Chorizo recipe, but I’m concerned about the fact that there’s no added salt. Potatoes need a lot of salt? Can I add some?
Our answer
Nigella's Spanish Chicken With Chorizo And Potatoes is pretty much an all-in-one meal, with only a crisp green salad needed to go alongside. The chorizo sausages let out a spicy oil that is used to baste the potatoes and the chicken, helping to crisp the potatoes and flavour both the chicken and the potatoes.
The dish does not have added salt as the chorizo will contain some salt. However, Nigella feels that seasoning of dishes is very much a personal thing, as everyone has different tastes and also a different tolerance to salt. If you would like to season the dish with extra salt then you can certainly do this. As it may not be possible to guage in advance how much salt is in the chorizo, you may like just to season the chicken with a little salt before cooking, then taste the potatoes after cooking and season with a little extra salt if you feel that they need it.
