Full question
Could you advise cook times if I made the Chocolate Pear Puddings in individual servings? I intend to use ceramic ramekins.
Our answer
Nigella's Chocolate Pear Pudding (from NIGELLA EXPRESS) uses drained, canned pear halves as these are a convenient alternative to poached pears. The pears are topped with a chocolate sponge and doused with a chocolate sauce. Nigella bakes the pudding in a 22cm/8½-inch square baking dish.
Ramekins come in a variety of sizes, the most common being a 150ml/6-ounce/⅔ cup ramekin. We would assume that you would need to trim the pear halves down to fit in the ramekins, or maybe even just have a layer of chopped pear on the base. Using this size of ramekin the baking time is likely to be around 20 minutes using the same oven temperature. Larger ramekins will take a little longer. The sponge should be risen and feel firm on top. Serve the puddings with the sauce alongside.
