Our answer

Nigella's Nutella Cake (from HOW TO BE A DOMESTIC GODDESS) is a gluten-free cake made from a combination of Nutella chocolate-hazelnut spread, eggs, butter and melted chocolate (with a splash of alcohol).

Nutella is a combination of cocoa, hazelnuts, sugar and fat. It is possible to make the cake with another brand of chocolate-hazelnut spread as long as it has similar proportions of these ingredients to Nutella. We are, unfortunately, slightly wary about using an organic or "natural" chocolate-hazelnut spread as some of them can be slightly heavy and will not blend as easily into the cake batter. Also the cake is not particularly sweet and reducing the sugar can affect the flavour and the keeping qualities. So we would prefer to stick to the more original form of chocolate-hazelnut spread.
