Full question
Please could you tell me where can I source the chocolate pasta to be able to make the Nigella's lovely-looking recipe in Nigellissima? Sue Flack
Our answer
Nigella used a cocoa penne pasta in the recipe for Chocolate Pasta With Caramel and Pecans (from Nigellissima). However the shape is not essential and you can use any shaped cocoa pasta that you can source in this recipe.
Unfortunately the cocoa pasta is not an everyday ingredioent and is usually easiest to buy via mail order. If you are seaching on the internet then searching with both "cocoa pasta" and "chocolate pasta" usually yields the most results.
In the UK cocoa penne is made by Hotel Chocolat, and available on their own website. In the UK and Europe there is a cocoa fusilli made by Bovetti which is available in the UK from The Italian Grocer and in Europe on various websites. In the US you can usually buy a dark chocolate linguine from Pappardelle's Pasta. Amazon Gourmet also occasionally sells cocoa pasta to several destinations.
