Our answer

NIgella's Coq au Riesling (from NIGELLA EXPRESS) is a white wine version of coq au vin. Like many stews, it is almost better if left in the fridge overnight and reheated and it freezes well. To freeze the Coq au Riesling cool and refrigerate the stew as quickly as possible (and within 2 hours of making) and when chilled transfer to a resealable container and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw for 24 hours in the fridge then transfer the stew to a large saucepan. Reheat gently, stirring ocassionally, until piping hot all of the way through.

Nigella has many Christmas entertaining and main meal recipes in NIGELLA CHRISTMAS and all have make ahead and freezing tips, where appropriate. One good make ahead recipe is the Pumpkin And Goat's Cheese Lasagne and the freezing information is at the bottom of the recipe. The chilli from Cornbread Topped Chilli Con Carne can be made and frozen ahead and then thawed, reheated and finished in the oven or served without the cornbread crust. Beef Stew With Anchovies And Thyme and Yellow Split Pea And Frankfurter Soup are both hearty dishes that freeze and reheat well. For the soups and stews follow the freezing and reheating instructions outlined for the Coq au Riesling. Mughlai Chicken is another popular make ahead dish and for the freezing instructions please click here. Nigella also has several Christmas recipes on-line.
