Freezing Nutella Cake

Full question
Can I freeze this cake? If so, for how long? Thank you.
Our answer
Nigella's Nutella Cake (from Domestic Goddess and on the Nigella website) can be frozen but we would recommend that you freeze it without the icing and hazelnut topping. Let the cake cool completely then remove it from the springform pan. As the cake is gluten free it can be a little fragile so you may find it easier to leave the cake on the pan base and freeze it still on the base.
Wrap the cake tightly with a double layer of clingfilm and a layer of foil. Freeze the cake for up to 3 months. To thaw the cake unwrap it and leave it on a wire rack at room temperature for about 4 hours. The frosting is a type of ganache and this can be frozen separately in an airtight container but would need to be warmed very gently until it is liquid enough to pour over the cake, so you may find it easier just to make the icing when you want to serve the cake. The hazelnuts can be toasted a day ahead, cooled and stored in an airtight container until needed.
