Irish Cream Tiramisu Dish
Asked by skewp. Answered on 26th May 2015
Full question
The recipe for the Irish Cream Tiramisu (made with Bailey's) specifies a square glass dish. Is it important that the dish be glass? I have a Corning Ware (ceramic) one & a metal one, but not a glass one. Since it doesn't get baked, I can't see why glass would be important, but would like to know your thoughts. Thanks very much.
Our answer
Nigella's Irish Cream Tiramisu (from Nigella Express and on the Nigella website) is assembled in a 22cm (8 1/2 inch) square dish. The recipe suggests a glass dish as it is quite attractive to see the layers of the tiramisu through the glass.
However it is not essential to have a glass dish and both the ceramic or metal ones mentioned would be fine. It is more important that the dish is approximately the correct size (and a 20cm/8-inch square dish or a 23cm/9-inch square dish would also suffice), can be refrigerated and is one that you would be happy to bring to the table.
