Keeping Chilli Jam

Full question
I am planning to make the Chilli Jam as gifts. Could you tell me how long can the jam be kept for once made?
Our answer
Nigella's Chilli Jam (from NIGELLA CHRISTMAS) is not a sweet jam, but a condiment to be served with cheese and cold meats. However it will keep for up to 1 year if it is put into properly sterilized jars and kept in a cool, dry place. After opening, the Chilli Jam should be kept in the fridge and used within one month.
Nigella considers a jar that comes fresh out of the dishwasher, and not touched at all inside, as sterilized. You can also sterilize the jars by washing the jars in hot soapy water, rinsing well and drying thoroughly in a cool oven (140c/275F). Make sure that the jars are still warm (but not hot) when you decant the cooked Chilli Jam into the jars.
