Large Stainless Steel Pot Used By Nigella

Asked by Katja P.. Answered on 11th March 2016

Full question

Hello, Nigella uses this terrific bulbous pot for her creamy potato gratin (I think she uses it for chicken soup as well). I've spent half an afternoon trying to find one just like it. Can you help?

Our answer

Nigella has a large steel pot that has been featured in several books and TV shows and this pot is called a couscoussier, or cous cous pot. It is actally in two parts, a base and a steamer insert and was originally used in Middle eastern kitchens. The large base was used to cook a stew and cous cous was put into the steamer insert so that it could cook in the steam coming from the stew.

Nigella's pot was a gift from her sister and is much treasured. You may find similar pots on the internet. The closest similar model we can find is made by Cuisinox and is available in the USA, though international shipping may also be possible.
