Our answer

Nigella's Butter Cut-Out Cookies (from HOW TO BE A DOMESTIC GODDESS can be cut into various shapes then baked and iced. The dough contains eggs so unbaked dough needs to be stored in the fridge and will keep for up to 3 days.

The dough can also be frozen and we would suggest that this is done the day the dough is made. Wrap the dough tightly in food wrap then put in a resealable bag or container and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw the dough overnight in the fridge before using. The thawed dough will keep for up to 3 days, providing it was frozen on the day it was made. Otherwise, use within 24 hours. Dough that has been refrigerated for several hours, or frozen and thawed, will be quite firm so you may need to let it stand out of the fridge for 30 minutes before rolling it, to let it soften slightly. If the dough is very hard and cold it will crack as you try to roll it. The dough needs to be cool and firm but malleable.
