Storing Rosewater Hearts

Asked by nmo110. Answered on 27th June 2015

Full question

The Rosewater Hear cokies look yum! How long do they last for?

Our answer

Nigella's Rosewater Hearts are a shortbread biscuit/cookie that is delicately flavored with rosewater. If the cookies are not iced then they will last about 5 days in an airtight container in a cool place. If the cookies are iced then you may find that they turn soft after a couple of days, due to the moisture from the glace icing, but they will still be fine to eat.

The cookies can also be frozen without icing. Either freeze the uncooked dough for up to 3 months and thaw overnight in the fridge before using or freeze the cut out cookie dough for up to 3 months and bake from frozen (see the instructions in the recipe). You can also freeze the baked but un-iced cookies in resealble bags or in an airtight container for about a month. Thaw the baked cookies on a wire rack for about an hour before using.
