Truffle Cake Without Base

Full question
I would like to make the Chocolate Meringue Truffle Cake but I don't like meringues. Is it possible to just make the truffle mixture as the whole cake?
Our answer
Nigella's Chocolate Meringue Truffle Cake has a very thin chocolate meringue base. The base is a little like a cookie and adds some contrasting texture, becoming softer over time. On top is a ganache made from chocolate, cream, golden syrup and rum and is similar to the filling in a chocolate truffle.
It is possible just to make the truffle part of the cake and serve it without the base as the mixture sets fairly firmly once it is chilled. The cake should still be removed from the fridge a short time before it is served. If you are using a non-stick pan then cut the cake carefully as a sharp knife can scratch the base of the tin. Dipping a knife in hot water between each cut will help to give clean slices and you can use a palette knife or thin spatula to help ease the cake slices from the base of the tin.
