Our answer

Nigella's Pecan-Plus Pie (from NIGELLA CHRISTMAS) is a festive dessert made with mixed nuts and is similar to a pecan pie. It uses golden syrup, which is available in many countries as "Lyle's golden syrup". However we have also tried the pie with light corn syrup and this works well as an alternative.

If neither of these are available then a light agave syrup would also be a good alternative as it is similar in sweetness and texture to the other syrups and is also flavourless. It may be possible to use maple syrup or a clear, runny honey, but both of these have quite strong flavours and the pie would not taste the same so we prefer not to particularly recommend them as alternatives.
