If I didn’t want to make all 6 pots of the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Pots, could I use what I have left over to make actual cookies, i.e. roll the dough into balls and place on a baking tray and bake?
Our answer
Nigella's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Pots (from SIMPLY NIGELLA) take the flavours of chocolate chip cookies and turns them into a dessert. It has a very thin crust but a very gooey centre.
Unfortunately, we don't think that the dough itself will be particularly good for making actual cookies. As Nigella mentions in the introduction, the pots have gooey centres but are not firm enough on the outside to hold together as a cookie. This is partly as the ratio of butter, egg and bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) to flour is higher than for many cookie recipes. If you did bake the dough as a cookie then it would probably spread out a lot over the baking sheet as it baked. If you are going to have too much dough for your immediate plans then you can freeze the unbaked dough in the pots for up to 3 months and bake them direct from frozen, adding 2 minutes to the baking time. Alternatively, you could halve the ingredients and make just 3 pots, in which case we suggest that you use one egg yolk instead of half an egg.
