Our answer

Nigella's Banoffee Cheesecake (from KITCHEN) is a baked cheesecake. The cheesecake is cooked in a water bath in the oven as this ensures a low, even heat and helps to give the cheesecake a smooth, set texture. To prevent any water from entering into the tin during cooking, the tin is wrapped in clingfilm (plastic wrap) and foil. Clingfilm is useful for this as it can make a fairly tight seal around the tin.

Most clingfilms that can be used in a microwave should be suitable for wrapping the tin. As the water bath protects the clingfilm from direct heat it should not cause any particular problems. However, if you are concerned then you could use two extra layers of foil instead. Make sure that the foil is put in overlapping layers, pressed as tightly as possible around the tin and scrunch any edges firmly together to seal as tightly as possible.
