This was a truly lovely recipe to follow! I did however decide to give it a bit of a twist of my own. First of all as I do not own a Swiss roll tin, I created one myself using a baking tray and foil, this meant the dimensions were slightly different (as I also had a square cake instead of rectangular) but the cake came out perfectly nonetheless! I hardly changed anything on the list of ingredients, except for using dark muscovado sugar to beat in with the egg yolks in stead of white sugar as I find it brings the richer taste out in the chocolate in the cake! Decorating I did not carve linings into the icing because I loved the texture of the icing as I had applied it to the cake, it gave a really woody feeling! When I cut off the end of the cake to use as a twig the first half I put on top of the cake before covering around it with icing, now it looked like a stump. Finally I put some cake decorations on it, robins and holly, for that finishing touch. I almost forgot to mention that the taste was delicious, of course!
