Awoke early Saturday morning - the mist was all in the valley below and only tree tops could be seen. The sun broke through and off we went to gather blackberries from the hedgerows. Apples were plucked from the trees. Made the base and then a quick blackberry jam. Followed the recipe but added a few spoons of the quick jam when mixing the apples and the fresh berries. Cooked up and enjoyed in the late morning / early afternoon sunshine - alas with four hungry boys the baking never lasts long. Oh well - to the next misty morning pickings!
