Christmas time in South Africa is sunshine, swimming and flowers. So I tried to add a touch of summer to the pie. I added some Lindt white chocolate and cranberries when I packed the nuts (hazelnuts, almond slices and of course pecan nuts) onto the pastry crust. And the light brown sugar I exchanged with treacle brown sugar to give it that extra toffeeness (the more toffee the more my younger brothers love me afterwards). For the rest of it, I tried to really really follow the recipe to a T!
