One thing I've noticed since moving to Australia is how much they love Hot Cross Buns here. They've been in the shops since I arrived in January, and I've seen all sorts of varieties from traditional fruit & spices to more decadent versions involving chocolate, caramel and cream. I saw @nigella 's cookalong recipe for this month was Hot Cross Buns so never having made them before (I can't even remember the last time I ate one), I decided to give them a whirl. I feel like I might have kneaded them a bit too vigorously after the first proof, thereby knocking too much air out and stunting their rise. They're not the most impressive buns I've seen here but they're only just out of the oven and I've already eaten 2 so they can't be too bad!

I like your photo. They look exactly how mine turned out as well - I was worried I'd done something wrong but then I looked again at Nigella's and they are very similar. How delicious is this recipe though?
