I made this cake for a special birthday for my granddaughter, using Nigella's recipe for an Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake. I added some special sugar roses which I had made and some petals to scatter around a blue glass cake stand make it look pretty. It was eaten same day, and everyone loved it. I always use this recipe now as my go-to chocolate cake, I may add alcohol, orange zest, or a sprinkling of chilli to the recipe sometimes but it is great just plain !!
