As always, I delved in to Nigella’s cake archive to find this year’s bake for my Mam’s birthday - she was 83 earlier this month. Due to my partners lactose intolerance, I made this iteration using non dairy spread for the buttercream and within the cake batter mix It was a huge hit - as light as a feather - and very, dangerously more-ish Naturally, a casual adornment with lit candles is essential for a celebration.
