I made the frosting first. I used a mixture of dark brown sugar & molasses in the cake. I used non-alcoholic Guinness instead of the water in the cake as well. I also used Bailey's original instead of the water in the frosting. The frosting is lush, goes very well with the cake. Love it. Doesn't need any complicated decorations.
