I got married to my late husband John in Venice, and used to go there every year on our anniversary, always staying in a flat rather than a hotel so that I could actually get to cook with the wonderful produce there. And so for me, A Table in Venice has a certain poignant appeal. And it is a beautifully evocative book, offering a delicious stroll through the city: you don’t need to be renting a flat in Venice to get a taste of it.
The taste of it I bring you now is Skye McAlpine’s Tagliolini with Prawns, Courgettes and Saffron or, more poetically, in Italian Tagliolini con Zafferano, Zucchine e Scampi.
