I love baking in general, and I love Scandinavian baking in particular. It would be embarrassing to have to tell you how many books I have on this subject, but I can never have enough. Queen of Hygge (the Danish word that conveys domestic cosiness and the warmth of the hearth as the evenings draw in) Trine Hahnemann has just brought out her Scandinavian Baking, and I feel lucky to add it to my collection. Reading it is gorgeous enough, but this is truly a book to be cooked from. It makes winter look like such an appetising prospect! I've chosen the recipe below, because a custard pie is, for me, just irrestistible.
