Although this section is officially for Witter, I am drawn to write about Twitter.
Here's the thing: I snap and tweet most things I cook and eat (not everything, or I would be issuing daily pictures of golden-yolked soft boiled egg smushed on rye toast) and quite often I am asked on twitter for the recipe. If I've been cooking something of mine - give or take - that's on the site, then I gladly tweet links to the recipe in question, but most often, I'm afraid, there ain't no recipe! That's to say, when I cook mostly, I am of the let's-see-what's-in-the-fridge school and I don't weigh or measure anything: I just go with the flow and hope it works out.
This is not because I disparage the recipe - I am an obsessive tester and re-tester once I've written my recipe - but because an awful lot, a pleasurable lot, of cooking goes into the pre-recipe stage. When I'm happy with what I'm doing, and have finessed and fiddled enough, then I write my recipe.
So know, that if you ask for a recipe and I don't provide one, it's not because I'm withholding, it's because I'm still incubating! And with these words, it's back to the kitchen I go....
