Ingredients

Makes: 20 cookies (more or less)

Metric Cups
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 125 grams butter (it has to be melted)
  • 125 grams demerara sugar
  • 125 grams granulated sugar
  • 250 grams plain flour (00)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 200 grams dark chocolate chips
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 4½ ounces butter (it has to be melted)
  • 4½ ounces turbinado sugar
  • 4½ ounces granulated sugar
  • 8 ounces all-purpose flour (00)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 7 ounces bittersweet chocolate chips

Method

Chocolate Chips Cookies is a community recipe submitted by Betta_Laz and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  1. Chop the chocolate into small pieces and put in a bowl.
  2. in another bowl put the flour and the baking powder, mix them together.
  3. in a mixing bowl beat the egg, then add the vanilla essence and mix up.
  4. Add to the egg and the vanilla essence, the melted butter (be carefull! it musn't be too hot) and mix together.
  5. Then add first the demerara sugar and mix up, then add the granulated sugar and mix up again.
  6. Add, alternating, the chocolate and the flour, untill you get the dough.
  7. Put on a baking tray the greaseproof paper, and make some rough small balls with the dough.
  8. Put them in the preheated oven at 190° for about 10 min.
  9. When removed them from the oven, leave them to cool on the baking tray. After 10 minutes put them on a plate.

  • I made these with milk chocolate (Milka just milk chocolate) because I decided on a whim and the corner shop had no dark. The recipe behaves like a dream, will absolutely be making these again. Absolutely delicious.
