Fry the onion, chillis and turmeric in a tablespoon of oil for a few minutes. Add the stock and lentils, bring to the boil and simmer for approximately 45 minutes. Add more water if required and season to taste.

Given this recipe by my sister who got it from I don't know where. Lovely, thick and warming.

- 1 chopped onion
- 2 seeded and chopped green chiles
- 1 cup red lentils
- 4 cups vegetable broth (or chicken)
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
