Introduction

This is a really simple muesli slice I made the other day here where I am staying, using the ingredients they had on hand. It makes quite a few, not quite to feed an army but anyway you can chop and change the ingredients and adapt the flavour.

This is a really simple muesli slice I made the other day here where I am staying, using the ingredients they had on hand. It makes quite a few, not quite to feed an army but anyway you can chop and change the ingredients and adapt the flavour.

Ingredients

Serves: 20 slices

Metric Cups
  • 250 millilitres rolled oats
  • 250 millilitres plain flour
  • 50 grams butter
  • 250 millilitres golden syrup
  • 250 grams sultanas and raisins
  • 250 grams glace cherries and dried apricot
  • 250 grams chocolate chips
  • 2 medium bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon chopped nuts
  • 9 fluid ounces quick-cooking oats
  • 9 fluid ounces all-purpose flour
  • 1¾ ounces butter
  • 9 fluid ounces golden syrup or light corn syrup
  • 8⅚ ounces sultanas and raisins
  • 8⅚ ounces glace cherries and dried apricot
  • 8⅚ ounces chocolate chips
  • 2 medium bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon chopped nuts

Method

  • First mix the dry ingredients, the flour, fruit and oats. Then melt the butter and golden syrup together in a pan.
  • Add this to the dry ingredients and mix well. Then add in the beaten eggs, chopped nuts and spices.
  • Pour the mixture into a lined square tin. Bake for 20 mins.
  • After it's cooked, melt the chocolate over a bain marie and then drizzle this all over the cake in the tin. Transfer to fridge to set. Then slice or break however.
