Melt a dollop of butter in a pan, and add the oats. Toast the oats until they begin to go golden brown and very fragrant. Add the milk and gently simmer until thick and creamy. Add the sugar. Eat.' I like to let it go a little cooler and it forms a nice creamy layer on top.

This is the way my Indian family prepare porridge, and I must say it's criminally good. So much for oats being good against cholesterol! they put a stop to that kind of goings on! I tells ya!
