Mix the dry ingredients together. Add the egg and half the milk and whisk till smooth. Whisk in the rest of the milk. Heat the oil in the pan. Pour in small circles of batter. Cook till the bubbles are rising to the top, then turn to cook on other side.

- 2 cups self-rising flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon superfine sugar
- 1 egg
- ½ pint milk
- oil (for frying pan)
