Preheat oven to 350F. Cream the butter & golden syrup or light corn syrup & sugar. Combine the liquids & the dry ingredients in separate bowls, then add alternately to the butter mixture. Add eggs last and then beat until blended. Pour into a loaf pan that has been slathered well with butter & floured. Bake for 40-50 minutes until...golden! Let cool slightly and make glaze Melt butter in a saucepan & add syrup & rum. Bring to a boil for 4-5 minutes until mixture thickens. Take off heat, set aside to let cool slightly Prick with a wooden skewer to make holes all over the cake, and pour the glaze over it.

- ½ cup buttermilk
- 2 medium eggs
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 tablespoons softened unsalted butter
- ¾ cup golden syrup or light corn syrup
- ½ cup raw sugar
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
For the Frosting
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ¼ cup golden syrup or light corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons golden rum
