Place dal(Lentil) in a pan with 3 cups water and salt and turmeric powder. On low heat boil it till tender. With spoon mash little in boiled water . keep aside. In another pan ,add oil over low heat, put cumin seeds. When sizzles, add tomato puree. Saute well. When oil gets separated , add garma masala and red chile powder. Mix for 2 mins. Add this tadka to dal. Put pan of dal on low heat and simmer for 5 mins. Add chopped corriander leaves and green chiles. Serve with roti or rice

- 1 cup yellow lentils
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon red chile powder
- salt (to taste)
- ½ teaspoon turmeric
- 2 teaspoons chopped green chiles
- 2 teaspoons chopped cilantro
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- ½ cup tomato puree
- 3 cups water
- 2 teaspoons oil
