Keep the leftover syrup from the mint Julep peaches. Add to it your preferred mix of dried fruits, the spices and the cinnamon stick. Bring to boil and then simmer for about 15-20 minutes, until fruit is soft, and the kitchen is full of the heady smell of spices. Serve with cream or ice-cream.

- mixed dried fruit (e.g. prunes, apricots, dried pears, cranberries and dried figs)
- ½ teaspoon mixed spice (or to taste)
