Cream together butter and sugar Add flour Mix together - get your hands in there! Flour your surface and rolling pin really well. This dough can be quite crumbly and sticky so I would advise rolling it in smaller batches. Cut out rounds and place in baking tray. Fill with mincemeat then cut out lids to go on top. Prick lids with a fork or sharp knife. Put in oven at 180c until brown (about 15-20 mins) Let cool then dust with confectioners' sugar.
Introduction
I took a notion to make mince pies one Christmas and my Grandma, who is a 91 year old legend, gave me her recipe :) As with most hand-me-down recipes it is in imperial measurements!

12 oz flour. OK, assuming I don't have a scale, is that one cup stuffed into a volumetric measuring device, or what exactly? Grandma would not be impressed, and I'm a bit confused myself.
