A cool drink to beat the summer heat.

Ingredients

Serves: 2 glasses

Metric Cups
  • 3 medium green mangoes Peeled, stone removed and chopped into chunks
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • ½ teaspoon powdered rock salt
  • 4 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 500 millilitres water
  • 4 leaves fresh mint (optional)

  • 4 tablespoons superfine sugar
  • 17½ fluid ounces water
  • 4 leaves fresh mint (optional)

Method

  1. In a saucepan with a lid, put the water, and the mangoes, and bring it to boil. When it starts boiling, cover with the lid, turn the heat down and let it simmer for a 30 mins, or till the mangoes become soft. You may check after 20 mins, and if the mangoes have turned soft, you may take it off the heat.
  2. Pour the cooked mango and the liquid in a bowl, add sugar and mint leaves, and blend it. Or you may blend it in a food processor. Then strain it through a sieve.
  3. Now add the salt, and cumin powder.
  4. Adjust the water according to your taste.
  5. Put it in the fridge and chill it.
