Put the dates in a pot, fill it with water until the dates are under water. Let it boil, turn the heat off, and let it wait in the pot for a few minutes. Add the bicarbonate of soda. Mix the butter and sugar, add the eggs, one at a time. Then add the flour, vanilla drops, salt and sodium bicarbonate. Then add the dates slowely to the mix. Heat the oven to 180 °C and bake for 30-40 minutes.

Best, easiest recipe ever for caramel sauce! You can add some Baileys instead of the cream for a different taste. Fabulous on vanilla ice-cream!
