Introduction

Based on the Sambuca kisses in "Nigellissima" but adapted to what I had in one Sunday morning when I fancied a more luxurious breakfast.

Ingredients

Makes: 18-20

Metric Cups
  • 1 large egg
  • 100 grams ricotta cheese
  • 30 grams plain flour
  • 10 grams unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon icing sugar to serve
  • 1 teaspoon Amaretto liqueur
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 3½ ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 ounces all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ ounce unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon superfine sugar
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon confectioners' sugar to serve
  • 1 teaspoon Amaretto liqueur
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Method

Chocolate Amaretto Kisses is a community recipe submitted by PeteC62 and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • Beat the egg and ricotta together till smooth, then add the flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, Amaretto, orange zest and sugar together until you have a smooth batter.
  • Warm 2 teaspoons of a flavourless oil in a heavy based frying pan until a cube of bread sizzles.
  • Oil a teaspoon and drop spoonfuls of the batter into the oil, about 4 at a time. As the under side cooks flip over and crisp the other side. Remove onto kitchen paper. Repeat until all the batter is used, then sprinkle with icing sugar and serve.
  • Lovely with a mocha coffee.
