Special Chammanthi

Take a skillet, heat oil on a low flame. Roast the Coriander seeds then Chana dal and the dried red chiles. Now add the grated coconut and fry it till it turns light brown colour. Add curry leaves, fry for 2 more minutes. Roast the Urad dal separately and keep it aside. Grind Coconut mixture adding the tamarind and salt to it. When it is half ready, add the roasted Urad dal and grind the whole mixture and your special chammanthi is ready!
Introduction
It's really yummy with any rice but specially with curd rice and rice porridge... its very easy n simple too... Hope it looks cute with eyes, nose n lips. :-)

Serves: 6-8
- 1 cup grated coconut
- 2 teaspoons coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon bengal gram
- 2 tablespoons urad dal
- 8 medium dried red chiles
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 sprig curry leaves
