Ingredients

Serves: 64 squares.

Metric Cups
  • 100 grams butter
  • 250 millilitres brown sugar
  • 63 millilitres golden syrup
  • 400 grams condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 4 ounces butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup golden syrup or light corn syrup
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Method

  • Mix ingredients in glass bowl, all except vanilla
  • Microwave on 100% for 10-11min. Stir every 2 minutes
  • Add vanilla and beat with wooden spoon until creamy, approximately 5 minutes
  • Tip into greased square tin. Stand for 1 hour and cut into 8 strips and 8 squares.

    • How do you accurately measure 63 ml of golden syrup?? I tried this recipe and the taste was glorious. Sadly the mixture did not set within 1 hour nor did it set after overnight in the freezer.Sad to say I had to discard the lot. Daisy
