Chocolate Shortbread

Introduction

Simple, easy recipe for shortbreads. I have been looking for a recipe to make shortbreads. My sis who lives in Reading will often bring shortbread when she comes to visit me. I thought of making one for myself.

Ingredients

Serves: 8-10

  • 9 ounces butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 ounces unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 pinch of salt

Method

Chocolate Shortbread is a community recipe submitted by sivagamibites and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • Cream butter and sugar till smooth.
  • Add flour and cocoa and mix with hand or wooden ladle untill it forms a soft dough Press dough in 9 inch round baking pan.
  • Leave in fridge for 15 minutes. Be sure to trace with fork to divide into 12 triangles
  • Bake at 250 C for 30 mins

    • Very disappointed as I baked this recipe before reading the comments and as the above person has written, this recipe is ALL kinds of wrong and needs to be removed from this site. Using the quantities above, the biscuits completely melted as soon as they hit the oven wasting the ingredients and time spent making them! Try doubling the flour quantity and that'll be bang on.

    • I think the person who wrote this recipe got it ALL wrong! 9oz butter to only 1 cup of flour? I would have ended up with sweet melted butter had i not noticed how sticky the dough was. I would recommend doubling the flour and maybe half the sugar....but i will know more when they get out of the oven about the sugar. To save this batch i added in another cup of flour. There is no way this recipe would make shortbread with that amount of butter.
