Introduction

I FOUND THIS IN A RESTAURANT ON THE BEACH IN A SMALL TOWN CALLED FERRAGUDO, AND THOUGHT IT SOUNDED ODD, BUT IT IS FANTASTIC.

Ingredients

Serves: 1

Metric Cups
  • 1 iceberg lettuce (sliced and chopped)
  • 3 bananas (not too ripe)
  • 250 grams prawns
  • marie rose sauce
  • 1 iceberg lettuce (sliced and chopped)

  • 8⅚ ounces shrimp
  • marie rose sauce

Method

Prawn and Banana Salad is a community recipe submitted by swedishchefcook and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • It couldn't be easier - slice and wash the iceberg lettuce, dry on a clean tea towel and place in a bowl, slice the bananas, not too thinly and put them with the lettuce, if you're using fresh prawns then add these to the lettuce and banana, otherwise make sure frozen prawns are defrosted.
  • To that add as much Marie Rose sauce as you wish, the Portuguese absolutely drown the dish so that's why I have not put an amount to use in the ingredients list, also I have not put a recipe for the Marie Rose sauce because asking around my friends they tend to use shop bought, which I must admit is very good these days.
  • Once all the ingredients are well mixed serve with good crusty bread.
