I have been making lots of warming carrot and ginger soup recently! I have noticed that when I chop one carrot on its own, the chopped pieces fly across the chopping board and disappear somewhere on the other side of the kitchen! My tip to avoid this is to lay about 5 peeled carrots side by side and using a large knife with a sort of rolling motion of the knife cut them all together. You will find that the pieces of carrot just calmly submit and roll gently off the end of the knife and remain on the chopping board!
