Take a long strip of aluminium foil - enough to go under the basin and several centimetres above each side. Fold it in half, and then in half again along its length. Place basin on strip, making side pieces equal, then use this to lift pudding in and out of pan.
No more string! Lifting steamed puddings out of pan.
