Our answer

Nigella's Chocolate Brownie Bowls (from KITCHEN) are mini chocolate cakes that are perfect vehicles for ice cream, fruit or whatever you would like to fill them with. The shape comes from the pan used, which is called a brownie bowl pan, or sometimes a dessert shell pan. Wilton used to make this pan but we understand that it is now no longer produced, though you may be able to find a second hand one on-line. There are some other US suppliers of similar pans and it would be best to try to source these on-line.

You can instead use 4 cavity Yorkshire pudding pans. The recipe is enough to make 8 of these (2 x 4-cavity pans). As the cakes cool, push a teacup into the centre to create an indent giving a shallower saucer for the filling to sit in. The pans are available from many UK cookware stores, some department stores and on-line.
