Our answer

Nigella's Egg Tortilla Pie (from AT MY TABLE) is made with wheat tortillas in lieu of a pastry pie crust. The filling of eggs, ham and cheese bake inside the crust to make an easy lunch, supper or brunch dish.

The recipe suggests baking the pie in a regular oven. An air fryer is essentially a small fan oven, but with an extra powerful fan. The main problem is that the heating element of an air fryer is only in the top of the appliance, so the top of the pie will cook more quickly than the base, whereas in a regular oven the heat will usually come from the bottom and sides of the oven. So it is not ideal to cook the pie in an air fryer. You also need an air fryer that has the dimensions that would allow for the dish to sit flat inside the air fryer and also that the top of the pie is not close to any heating elements. If you did want to try cooking in an air fryer then, as air fryers usually cook much more quickly, we would suggest reducing the temperature to 160c (325F) in the air fryer and cooking for around for 15 minutes. We would also suggest that you have a quick check after 10 minutes, to make sure that the top of the pie is not burning. It is slightly difficult to cover the top of a dish in an air fryer, as often the covering gets dislodged by the force of the fan, so if the top is burning you may have to reduce the temperature further and cook for longer. Once the pie has cooked, make a small hole in the top roughly where one of the eggs was placed, to see if the egg is cooked to your liking. If not, cook for an extra 2-3 minutes. Please note that as we have not tried cooking the pie in an air fryer ourselves, we are unable to guarantee the results.
